About Your Librarian
About your librarian, Mrs. Lamb

It is a going to be an awesome 2017-2018 school  year @ A.V. Cato Elementary. I am humbled to be your teacher librarian!

My Teaching Background: My education degree is from the University of Texas at Tyler and I have a Masters of Science degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas. I am returning to librarianship after 8 years of working as an education consultant and Marketing Manager for a education technology company. Before this, I was teaching grade 3, 4, and 5 and spent 9 years as a library media specialist in Irving ISD. As an Education Consultant & Marketing Manager, I spent the past few years working with educators all over the world and visiting some pretty exciting places. In fact, one my most favorite memories was just last year. My husband I were part of a group which visiting India. We were helping to build a new school, learn about the culture and people. We even rode a camel! I still stay connected with the educators through social media. I hope we get to connect some of those classrooms around the world!

What else am I up to? I am currently working on a PhD in learning technologies! Always a learner, I started back to school about 4.5 years ago. I am a doctoral candidate at the University of North Texas and working on writing my dissertation proposal for defending (so I can begin my study.) It has been an awesome journey (not always easy, but definitely exciting!)

About my family: I was born in Pontiac, Michigan but spent most of my life in Texas when my parents moved down in 1969. I graduated from Irving High School in 1980! I have been married to my husband for just over 32 years and have two boys, Ryan and Mitchel. Ryan is married to Ana and lives in California and Mitchel is currently working as a medical assistant and living in Bedford (where I live with my husband, Melvin).

I look forward to a great year! Please stop by the library and introduce yourself. I love parent volunteers and always love to hear about what you are reading!  See you soon!

With Library love,

Mrs. Lamb
