What can I do to make a positive impact in my community?
The Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students at AV Cato Elementary have been learning about what things they can do to have a positive impact in their community. The students first had to choose several projects and vote on which project would make the greatest impact in the community of River Oaks. Students overwhelmingly voted to support the River Oaks Fire Department with Operation Comfort Animal. This project focused on collecting stuffed animals to donate to the River Oaks Fire Department. Every Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten class was given the task to bring in stuffed animals for this worthy cause. The stuffed animals will be given to children to help comfort them in their time of need.

The River Oaks Firefighters made a special trip to AV Cato to pick up the stuffed animals and to educate the students on fire safety. The students at AV Cato have learned a valuable lesson about making a difference at any age!
