Flipped Lessons

Writer's Workshop

Parents,

We will be exploring writing in kindergarten and learning things that good writers do to make their stories make sense.

The characteristics of writing that we focus on include:

  • Using a capital letter only at the beginning of the sentence
  • Using finger spaces between words
  • Listening for the beginning, middle, and ending sound when writing a word
  • Spelling words on the word wall correctly
  • Using punctuation at the end of the sentence

I created this video so you can better understand what writing looks like in kindergarten. Thank you for your support!

Here is a checklist that your student will use in their writing everyday to make sure they are doing things that good writers do. You can use this checklist when they write at home too!

Reading

Parents,

Here is another great resource to use when you are helping your child learn their letters and sounds. This is a video of the alphabet chart that we practice everyday in the classroom. You can let your child watch it for additional practice. You can also watch it to understand what is being expected of your student.
