Here is our Technology-Infused lesson for Science:

This is the rubric I used to assess this activity:

TEK K.9A

Differentiate between living and non-living things based upon whether they have basic needs and produce offspring.

The focus for this lesson was for the students to examine the life of a butterfly and determine that in order for the caterpillar to grow and change it has basic needs that must be fulfilled.

For this Collaborative Technology Infused Lesson the students created the life cycle of a butterfly on a paper plate, labeled the steps appropriately and added detail.  In class the students practiced using an application called Chatterkid in which they took a picture of their project and recorded themselves talking about the steps of the life cycle of a butterfly in the correct order.

This activity is a class favorite and they love using Chatterkid to talk about their work.  They are always proud to show me how well they did and they love to hear their own voices played back.  In the future I would like to have the student explain each phase a little more in depth but overall I will continue using this application for my student's learning.
