2020-2021 School Year Update
For many weeks now, CISD has strategically considered various options on how we would begin the school year in an ever-changing environment of our county, state, and nation as it relates to the spread of COVID-19.

AVC Teacher of the Year
There are many highly gifted and talented teachers at A.V. Cato, but one stands out among the rest. Congratulations to Mr. Marshall Harrell. He was nominated as Teacher of the Year by his fellow peers.  
OPEN National Field Day
Yes!! You read that right!! A V Cato is going to be participating in the OPEN National Field Day on May 8th!! So far over 16,000 schools are registered and the number keeps growing!! I am so excited that we have this opportunity for our A V Cato students, their families, and even our staff if they would like to participate!! Participation in this event is completely optional!! I just wanted to provide this opportunity to everyone, because as you know, Field Day is an event that so many look forward to every year!!  
Remote Learning at CISD
Dear Parents and Guardians, While the closing of brick and mortar schools may have the district working in uncharted territory, we feel that several major initiatives such as our Digital Equity 4 All and the One-to-One Student to Computer Initiative ensures the district will be able to continue educating our students while they are in a safe place at home with their families. For a quick video of the district’s initiatives, watch the coverage from NBC Channel 5 where they highlighted Castleberry ISD and the ability to offer remote learning to all students.  
Tarrant Area Food Pantry
Families in need may be able to receive aid through the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Please check the TAFB Mobile Pantry Schedule to see which locations are currently in operation. The TAFB Find Food page is a great website for locating places to pick up food items.

Fort Worth Zoo Visits A.V. Cato
When you can't take your crew to the zoo, you bring the Fort Worth Zoo to you! Thanks to an anonymous donor, the students at A.V. Cato experienced a special treat on Thursday, February 27, 2020.  
Operation Comfort Animal
What can I do to make a positive impact in my community? The Pre-Kindergarten and Kindertgarten students at AV Cato Elementary have been learning about what things they can do to have a positive impact in their community.  
AVC Brings Home a Winner
The Castleberry Independent School District's first annual Bilingual Spelling Bee was held on Wednesday, January 29. Each elementary school had six contestants in grades three through five attend the district competition.

On Friday, January 10, 2020 students anxiously awaited Ms. Mary Lou Martinez to arrive at A.V. Cato. The students and staff of A.V. Cato gave Ms. Martinez the greatest welcoming one can receive at our school, which is the Parade of Hands.

A.V. Cato's Annual Spelling Bee brings forth the cream of the crop in grades three through five.  
Yearbook Cover Art Contest Winner
AV Cato is proud to announce that this year the Yearbook Committee collaborated with the art classrooms in the 4th and 5th grades to design the cover for the 2019-2020 yearbook. The students brainstormed different ideas that represented our theme, "Only One You!"

A.V. Cato's annual Watch D.O.G.S. kick off was a success! On October 1st we had over 35 father figures who attended our presentation.

On September 25th and 26th the Colgate Mobil Dental Van visited students at A.V. Cato Elementary.The dental van is equipped to screen for common oral health conditions. Colgates Bright Smiles and bright Futures screens two children at a time.
