Walk & Roll to School Day
Walk & Roll to School Day

This year for the first time, AV Cato Elementary participated in Walk & Roll to School Day on Oct. 12th, 2022. Parents were invited to form “walking school busses”, take safe routes together with their neighbors, and walk or ride their bikes to school. In the classroom, teachers led discussions about travel safety procedures and completed safety travel activities with their students, such as Wordfinds and Crossword puzzles. We had over 100 students and families participate–thank you to everyone who was involved!

Walk & Roll to School Day is an annual event that involves communities from across the country (and globe!) walking and rolling to school on the same day. It began in 1997 as a one-day event. Today, thousands of schools across America—from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico—participate every October. Over time, this celebration has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school.
