Walk & Roll to School Day
This year for the first time, AV Cato Elementary participated in Walk & Roll to School Day on Oct. 12th, 2022. Parents were invited to form “walking school busses”, take safe routes together with their neighbors, and walk or ride their bikes to school. In the classroom, teachers led discussions about travel safety procedures and completed safety travel activities with their students, such as Wordfinds and Crossword puzzles. We had over 100 students and families participate–thank you to everyone who was involved!

Mr. Harrell's third graders have been working hard to learn some tunes to croon to the masses. Come out and listen to them sing some fun and classic songs that take inspiration from and pay homage to Hispanic History month.

Technology Device Collection
All students are required to return school issued Chromebook/iPad, bag, charger, and internet router/hotspot on the designated day.  
AVC Upcoming Events
AV Cato has many upcoming events. Field Day will take place on May 20th and our individual classroom award days will follow in the coming days. Our awards day will look different this year as they will all be virtual. Your student's teacher will send you a link so that you may participate virtually.  
Pre-K & Kinder Pre-Registration
Did you know that the registration process for Castleberry ISD Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten for next year starts in the Spring? Beginning April 1, 2021, parents may pre-register both Pre-K and Kindergarten students who are new to CISD for the 2021-2022 school year.  
Virtual Open House
Virtual Open House for all CISD campuses. Parents will be able to link in to your students classroom teacher by using the Canvas link. We encourage you to pop on in and visit with the classroom teacher. 
Kindergarten Cap and Gown Portraits
Kindergarten Cap and Gown Picture Day is Thursday, April 1, 2021. No money will be due on picture day. All Kinder students will be photographed on picture day. 
New Remote Learning Days for CISD Students
The 2020-2021 school year has brought many challenges, including teachers having to teach both in-person and online simultaneously. Considering these challenges, it is essential for teachers to have time to collaboratively plan for the best educational opportunities for their students.

We are very happy to announce that GlamourCraft Photography will once again be taking our students pictures. Glamourcraft has a contactless method for picture taking and delivering of picture packets as well. Spring Picture Day is Wednesday, January 20, 2021.

It is with great joy that we welcome back "Tiki" our Pet Partner! Tiki is a maltipoo who is nearly three years old.  
In Person or Remote Learning?
Your child's method of instruction for the 4th Six Weeks will remain the same unless you contact your child's campus by Thursday, January 7th, or campus administration has revoked remote learning for your child due to failing grades, unexcused absences, or non- participation in remote learning.  
All In Person Students Learn Remotely Leading Up To Thanksgiving Break
Due to increased cases of COVID-19 within our district and community, the number of students and staff currently quarantined, and the shortage of substitutes, CISD has decided out of abundance of caution that all in-person students be required to switch to remote learning for the remainder of this week starting on Thursday, November 19, 2020. 
Yearbook Cover Art Contest Winner
This years Art Contest winner for the yearbook cover is Andrealouise Esparza. Andrealouise's teacher, Ms. Lee reports that she is a super sweet student, a joy to have in class and is academically focused. 
2020-2021 Calendar Update
In accordance with the latest TEA guidelines Castleberry ISD will be offering both in-person and remote instruction for the Intersessional Learning weeks of November 16 through November 20, January 4 through January 14, and March 8 through March 12.  
Grab 'N Read Bags
Stop by the school on Friday, October 30th from 1:00pm-2:00pm to pick up a bag for students that are remote learning.

Fireman Deliver Official Gear To Students
One class in each of the lower grade levels participated in the Fire Safety Art Contest for our River Oaks Fire Department. Students drew pictures depicting the students being rescued by fireman. We learned that 911 is our number to call when we need a firefighter!

Meal Pick Up Guidelines Meal pick up will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM at Joy James, Castleberry Elementary and Castleberry High School. ○ On Tuesdays, you will receive breakfast and lunch for Wednesday – Thursday. ○ On Thursdays, you will receive meals for Friday – Tuesday. ● The first meal pick up will be on Tuesday, August 11 th from 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM. On August 11 th , you will receive breakfast and lunch for August 12 – 13.

In Person or Remote Instruction Commitment Survey
Castleberry ISD will be offering remote learning for its students beginning Wednesday, August 12th, 2020. TEA guidelines outline that parents make a commitment to either in-person or remote learning ten days prior to the first day of school. CISD is requiring your final commitment, so we may plan for a smooth reentry into both in-person and remote learning environments once CISD is able to provide both models.
